The Price Follows the Law of Physics.

The Center of Gravity indicator, as its name suggests, displays the center of gravity during a given period. Indeed, everyone has noticed a Forex price evolves in small waves as a general trend . This is true regardless of the time frame with which we look at the price. Once a line is drawn from the center of gravity, we observe that the price crosses the line from the top and the bottom, and so on.

Fibonacci at the Heart of the Algorithm.

Fibonacci retracements are used by all traders. They define the likely magnitude of successive rebounds after a strong stock movement. They are particularly relevant, since traders use these coefficients to calculate at what level to place their orders.

These Fibonacci factors are integrated into EasyTrading Center of Gravity. They define the levels of red and green lines.

What are All the Colored Lines?

The blue line in the middle is the center of gravity. The price always revolves around it over the given period. Then, the gray lines represent the standard deviation of the price from the center of gravity. It is normal and common for the price to cross these lines, as you will notice on any indicator display.

Finally, the red and green lines are obtained by applying different levels of Fibonacci to the curve of the standard deviation, which gives us areas of overbought and oversold. According to Mostafa Belkhayate's statistics and verified by myself, when the price is in this area, we are 80% sure it will go back at least to the blue line .

Center of Gravity for trading in the channel.

Center of Gravity is the channel indicator that appears on the chart of the currency pair channel, consisting of 5 lines:

Blue line – middle line of the channel Green line – internal borders of the channel Yellow lines – external borders of the channel.

The distance between the internal and external borders are in direct dependence on the level of volatility. The higher the volatility is, the shorter the interval between boundaries.

Characteristics of Center of Gravity indicator.

Center of Gravity indicator is used in channel forex strategies and involves the use of two types of entry points:

Rebound from the border of the channel.

Prices rebound from the lower border of the channel open a buy position, the first take profit set in the middle line of the channel, the second Take Profit – at the top border of the channel. Stop Loss is placed below of the channel, at a distance corresponding to the spacing between the green and yellow lines:

Price crosses the center line of the channel.

Signal for opening a long position is the price crossing the midline of the channel from the bottom up, to open a short position - from top to bottom. Take Profit and Stop Loss set at a level of internal boundaries of the channel.

Center of Gravity indicator has the disadvantage of repainting of the channel, which is especially pronounced at the younger Time Frames.

Sorry, but i could not see any Blue line, Yellow lines and the Green lines on my chart. Tf of 1H.

I see only the middle line blue line….but the other two outer lines do not appear. What am I doing wrong?

it works according to the original rules and right now it is for 5 digit systems - will need adjustments to work for the 4 digits.

i have only done a little testing so far but it seems to be opening the trades at the right time.

right now i have a fixed lot size set of 0.10 - it needs to have your code plugged back in for optimizing again.

since the spread between the cog lines can be more than 20 pips then that means that the stoploss from the inner most cog line to 10 or 20 past the outtermost cog line can be as high as 80 pips or so - that means some form of risk limitation should be set up where a maximum spread for stoploss and the number of open orders etc needs to be made -

that would be to not open orders at the time of first passing the cog line.

but waiting until the price peaks out and starts reversing and then open the orders as the price passes back across the cog line in the opposite direction.

i think that would reduce draw down and margin usage.

i just wonder if the trend would often reverse as the price peaked - if that happened then you wouldn't have any orders placed as price moved back through the cog lines.

hmmm - it is starting to seem like we might need a trend strength measurement.

i am also going to try setting the stop loss and take profit at offsets from the outer COG lines.
